During the inspection, officers conducted a verification process using the vehicle identification number to determine the vehicle’s status.

The enquiry revealed that the Mercedes-Benz had been reported stolen earlier this year and was linked to a case registered in Durban.

The driver was immediately arrested and taken into custody.

He was detained at Primrose Police Station and is expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle.

The EMPD said investigations are continuing.
