Elsburg SAPS recognises crime-fighting efforts

Elsburg SAPS Station Commander Col Louis Sibonangaye Maluleka awarded officers and stakeholders for their contribution to crime-fighting operations.

Elsburg SAPS station commander Colonel Louis Sibonangaye Maluleka recently led a certificate handover ceremony to recognise members for their crime-fighting efforts.

Certificates were awarded to police officers, detectives, members of security companies, crime wardens and other stakeholders who contributed to crime-solving and policing efforts in the community.

Maluleka said the programme followed a high-density station operation involving SAPS members, the CPF, security companies, crime wardens and other role players.

“On that day, we closed three illegal shebeens, made 14 drug-related arrests and also dealt with second-hand goods compliance,” said Maluleka.

He said the certificates were issued as a gesture of appreciation to all those who contributed to the success of the operation.

Maluleka added that teamwork had played an important role in the station’s achievements.

“This has contributed to our success as a station. We are the best station in the Ekurhuleni district, but we understand that we cannot wash today’s washing with yesterday’s sun,” he said.

“This means we have to work harder to retain our status as the best station.”

He said the station also aims to recognise members who work hard to secure convictions, including murder convictions and maximum sentences in all crimes.

Maluleka said such recognition programmes are important because they motivate officers and stakeholders to continue serving the community with dedication.

“We are hoping that through such programmes, our members will be motivated to work, and eventually we will win our community’s trust,” Maluleka.
