The fire that broke out at Simmer and Jack Landfill site near Germiston on October 27 has been extinguished.
Although the fire has been extinguished, there is still smoke emanating from the landfill site.
The fire led to a temporary closure of the landfill site.

“The city’s emergency services’ teams remain on site to monitor the situation.
“The landfill site remains temporarily closed for operations until all is cleared, and customers are urged to continue using alternative sites such as the Platkop landfill site near Katlehong,” said COE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.
