Taxi crashes into perimeter wall fence in Primrose

Taxi with 16 passengers’ crash into perimeter wall fence.

The City of Ekurhuleni DEMS rescue teams from district four responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a minibus taxi full of passengers at the corner of AG De Witt and Main streets, Primrose, on November 5.

According to the DEMS’s district manager media liaison, William Ntladi, rescuers were called at 06:06 and a team of 13 members responded to the scene.

Three rescue fire engines from Bedfordview, Primrose and Edenvale fire stations respectively were used.

The scene was handed over to law enforcement agencies for investigations.

“On arrival, it was found that the taxi crashed through the perimeter wall which has corrugated roof carports built into it. Three vehicles parked under it were damaged as a result,” said Ntladi.

“All 16 occupants inside the minibus including the driver had to be triaged by paramedics and medically treated on scene before transportation to various medical facilities around the city.

According to the DEMS’s district manager media liaison, William Ntladi, rescuers were requested at 06:06 in the morning after a taxi crashed into a perimeter wall fence.

“Rescue teams and multiple medical emergency services agencies on scene, collaboratively treated the casualties with diligence before transportation,” he added.

The scene was handed over to law enforcement agencies for investigations.
