A representative from the hotel, Thomas Makgoba, and Xolani Mthiyane, a social worker from the City of Ekurhuleni, addressed the recipients.
Mthiyane explained that as a social worker concentrating on the area, he was responsible for soliciting support on behalf of the group.
“We work with creches and other organisations in the area to help them with compliance matters and looking after the wellbeing of the children,” said Mthiyane.
Makgoba stated that when Xolani requested assistance, they organised a meeting to introduce him to the organisation’s community leaders and founders.

“Because Birchwood supports creches in the area, we took their wish list into consideration and offered them what we could. The list included the need for food assistance for the youngsters from disadvantaged homes.
