Residents in Spruitview, Leondale, Rondebult, and Katlehong 1 are urged to prepare for a temporary water outage next week, as the City of Ekurhuleni has received a notice from Rand Water about planned maintenance that will impact supply to several areas.

According to the city spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini, Rand Water will conduct maintenance work at the Zwartkopjes pumping station from 05:00 on Monday, June 30, until 07:00 on Wednesday, July 2.

“This will affect the water supply to parts of Germiston and Boksburg, including Spruitview, Leondale, Rondebult, and Katlehong 1,” said Dlamini.

Other affected areas include Sunward Park, Van Dyk Park, Freeway Park, Parkdene, Cinderella, Elspark, Groeneweide, Klipoortjie, Boksburg South, Boksburg Industrial, Boksburg CBD, Farrar Park, Libradene, Atlasville, Beyers Park, Anderbolt, and Parkhaven.

Dlamini confirmed water tankers will be dispatched to all affected areas to provide temporary relief during the outage.

“Full restoration of water supply may take up to seven days after the completion of maintenance,” he explained.

“High-lying areas and those that depend on pumping systems may take longer to recover.”

Residents and businesses in the affected areas are encouraged to store water in advance and use it sparingly during this period to minimise inconvenience.
