Rising artist drops fresh EP inspired by growth and life experiences
Inspired by his township upbringing and lifelong passion for music, Jakis Kriist’s Victory Lab explores personal wins, challenges and creative evolution.
Rising DJ and producer Martin Mojaki, known as Jakis Kriist, has released an EP titled Victory Lab, a bold fusion of sound experiments inspired by the grind, the hustle, and the pursuit of personal wins.
“Victory Lab is a reflection of resilience, growth, and the lessons life has served me,” said Jakis.
He said every track carries a piece of his journey; the evolution, the challenges, and the victories found in the creative lab behind the scenes.

Featuring a line-up of nine dynamic artists, the EP blends diverse energies and styles, each pushing the boundaries of genre and creativity. Jakis intentionally collaborated with artists who bring authenticity, boldness, and fresh perspectives to the project.
One of the standout tracks, Kude, features Rovert Aleemes, 2M, and Seli K.
“The song carries a powerful message of hope, a reminder to hold on through life’s pressures because each person is destined for a far greater purpose,” shared Jakis.
Another major highlight, Joy Lab, is a soulful collaboration with Bro Tom, expanding the EP’s emotional and spiritual depth.
He said working with different artists from different places, sometimes planned, sometimes completely spontaneous, was one of the most challenging but also inspiring parts of this EP’s journey.

“Weaving these raw ideas into one cohesive sound took courage, but it created something true and unique.
Ultimately, Victory Lab is not just a musical project. It’s a creative experiment born in moments of struggle, inspiration, and late-night studio breakthroughs. It’s bold. It’s fresh. And it’s a testament to perseverance,” shares Jakis.
He said he hopes listeners feel the energy and motivation behind every track. “Victory Lab is about embracing growth, learning from mistakes, and celebrating the small victories that build us,” said Jakis.
Jakis told Germiston City News that his journey began at the age of 12, as a keyboardist at a local church. That’s where he found his love for creating music.
“From there I never looked back. I have built my career on passion, perseverance, and a deep emotional connection to sound,” shared Jakis.
Born and raised in Thembisa, Jakis’ musical journey started in 2013 when his older brother took him for keyboard lessons.
“He also introduced me to #Hashtag 14 Events where I got the chance to perform,” he recalls. “My brother really planted that first seed, and from there, music became part of who I am.”

His sound today is a vibrant fusion of soul and rhythm, blending modern and traditional African influences into an unmistakable groove. Jakis says his greatest inspiration comes from his surroundings and personal experiences.
“The story behind my journey is inspired by emotions and life growing up in the township, the adventures, the struggles, and turning those into melodies that bring hope and good memories,” said Jakis.
Through it all, Jakis remains grounded in his values. “I want to be known as authentic, innovative, and true to my sound. What sets me apart is my emotional connection to music and my attention to detail. I never give up, no matter what,” said Jakis.
His message to aspiring artists is simple. “Believe in yourself, pray, stay disciplined, and keep knocking. Take risks, seek feedback, and never lose focus or patience,” said Jakis.
