Dino Chizinga and Owami Ndimande, both athletes and coaches at F45 Bedfordview, are preparing to take South African fitness to the global stage and they are asking on the community to help them get there.
Dino (38) and Ndimande (26) have officially qualified to compete in the Deadly Dozen World Championships, set to take place in London, United Kingdom, on September 6.

Earning their place
Their qualification for the world championships came after a strong performance earlier this year, where they placed sixth at the Deadly Dozen Africa championships. This achievement secured their spot among 82 South African athletes heading to London.
The duo has also consistently placed in the top 10 in hybrid racing competitions, including a recent podium finish in a HYROX relay event, a testament to their hard work, teamwork and determination.
“This is a life-changing opportunity for us. It represents years of sacrifice, discipline and consistency. To represent South Africa on an international stage is something we are incredibly proud of,” said the duo.

The challenge beyond qualification
While qualifying for the championships is a major milestone, the journey to London comes with a significant financial hurdle.
The team needs to raise R120 000 to cover travel costs, accommodation, and competition expenses. So far, they have raised over R11 000 leaving a substantial gap to close before September.
To help reach their goal, Dino and Owami have already hosted several fitness-based fundraising events, bringing their community into their journey.
However, they say more support is needed.
The athletes are appealing to residents, businesses, and fitness enthusiasts across Ekurhuleni and beyond to support their dream.

“Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to representing South Africa on the world stage. This is not just about us, it’s about showing what South African athletes are capable of,” said Dino.

More than just competition
Beyond medals and rankings, Dino and Owami see this opportunity as a platform to inspire others.
Through their work as coaches, they have already impacted many lives, helping people improve their health, confidence and performance.
Now, they hope their journey will motivate others to pursue their own goals no matter how big.
“We want to show that with faith, discipline and consistency, anything is possible,” they said.
