Ekurhuleni district commissioner Major General Anna Sithole hosted the Ekurhuleni SAPS Service Excellence Awards 2025/2026 at Bazme Adab Hall in Actonville. Local officers, including Germiston SAPS detective Sergeant Itani Mukhesi, walked away with the Forensic Detective of the Year award.

Sithole briefly outlined the purpose of the day and gave her message of encouragement, also commending the nominees.

In her address, she emphasised the importance of the Excellence Awards as one of the SAPS reward strategies to keep members encouraged and motivated, especially during one of the toughest years in terms of organisational reputation and negative public perception.

There are 32 categories in total, including Administration Officer of the Year for all levels, Vispol and Operations Officer of the Year, Detective and Forensic Officer of the Year, Man and Woman of the Year, Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year, and Top Achiever of the Year.

Some of the key award recipients include Rabie Ridge SAPS under Colonel KC Hlako, named Station of the Year, and Brigadier MJ Ngoma from Brakpan SAPS, who took home the title of Senior Operational Manager of the Year.

Individual honours were awarded to Constable PA Kgamane as Sportsman of the Year, Sergeant LM Seabela as Sportswoman of the Year, Sergeant NQ Sibeko as Woman of the Year, and Sergeant SK Magwaza as Man of the Year.

Sithole congratulated the winners and commended the hard work of all nominees in getting this far.
