Delville resident expresses gratitude

An expression of gratitude to the members of the Delville CPF and the Germiston police.

Hester Davies of Delville writes:

I would like to express my gratitude to the members of the Delville CPF and the Germiston police.

In the early hours of August 18, at about 4am, I woke up to the sound of the neighbour’s dog barking and was alarmed to hear the sound of trespassers in my yard.

My family joined the Delville CPF in May and we were given a two-way radio which we were able to use to contact the CPF.

The CPF in turn contacted the police, who responded within five minutes of the call.

The officers were very courteous and helpful. A female officer stayed with me while other officers checked the yard and surrounding area to make sure the would-be thieves had fled the scene.

With the suspects gone and the police being extra vigilant during their patrols of the area we felt a lot safer.

I would like to encourage as many people as possible to join the CPF.

Very often we hear over the two-way radio that the CPF patrols and SAPS are searching for suspects who were seen jumping over someone’s wall, only for the suspects to disappear as they are unsure of whose yard the suspects were in.

It is frustrating when we know criminals are lurking nearby but most homeowners seem oblivious to the potential danger they find themselves in.

With more eyes and ears we can try and assist the SAPS in making our community a safer place by taking part in a partnership that works.
