Except for a few, having fun and enjoying the good times is all that most of today’s young people seem to be concerned about. Their demand for instant gratification and free ownership of just about everything without putting any effort into improving their lives makes them losers in the game of life even before they start the race.
The majority of young people in our country would rather prefer to be given free money to buy expensive designer clothes and to drive expensive cars and live in multi-million rand homes before they can even be taught how to reach these goals. That is why we have such a high crime rate in the country because everybody wants to own other people’s belongings.
Criminals and drug dealers are seen by young people as preferable role models for the youth in our townships. Young girls would rather drop out of school to prostitute themselves to older men and criminals for pleasure, money and alcohol.
It is a shame to see young girls and boys of school-going age being drunk and misbehaving on a day like June 16.
