Editor – On behalf of the Eastern Gauteng Region of the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa), we would like to sincerely thank Smiley Kids Albemarle for their generous donation of R810 towards the fight against cancer.
I would like to confirm that the donation has been received and used for our Cuppa for Cansa Project, in aid of breast cancer.
Cansa offers a unique integrated service to the public and all people affected by cancer.
As a leading roleplayer in cancer research, R4.5-million is spent annually. The scientific findings and knowledge gained from our research are used to realign our health programmes, as well as strengthen our watchdog role to the greater benefit of the public.
Our wide-reaching health programme includes prevention and education campaigns, patient care and support in the form of 13 Interim Homes, care centres that offer stoma and lymphoedema clinics, medical equipment hire, toll-free line and support to children and their families affected by cancer via our Cansa Tough Living with Cancer (TLC) programme.
Cansa gives out free Cancer Coping kits in English, Sesotho, isiZulu and Afrikaans.
For us to continue delivering this superb service to our communities, we need to raise much-needed funds as we do not receive any funding from the government and solely rely on our communities to help us in the fight against cancer.
Cuppa for Cansa is one of our signature fund-raising events where we celebrate our cancer survivors, remember those lost to cancer, honour those still fighting and as a community come together and fight back against this dreaded disease.
Again, thank you for your donation – we truly appreciate it.
