Luso Africa put on a convincing display to beat East Sporting 3-1, at the Hattingh Park football grounds, on Saturday.
Although Luso were the better side on the day, it was the visitors who began the game brightly, by scoring early in the first half.
Luso used the long ball tactic for the tall strikers and they always looked threatening against the Sporting defenders.
The equaliser was bound to come, as they applied the pressure.
The goal came from a corner kick which the home side had no problem sticking into the back of the net.
Although Luso continued to dominate for the rest of the first half, not too many clear goal scoring opportunities were created for the rest of the opening half.
The two sides were level at halftime, at 1-1.
The hosts’ tall strikers once again proved their worth in the second half.
A cross was nodded down to set up a simple goal, for Luso to make it 2-1.
Sporting tried to fight back but the local side’s defence stood firm.
So good were the defenders that the visitors were restricted to mainly long range shots, which Luso’s keeper dealt with easily.
The final nail in Sporting’s coffin came, as there could only be one winner on the day.
This victory sees Luso still at third place in the Eastern Local FA Super League.
They are behind Highlands Park and Benoni Northerns.
They will host Alberton at Hattingh Park on Saturday, with a huge game against Benoni a week later.
