Luso maintains second spot

Luso Africa kept up their winning streak.

Luso Africa consolidated their second place in the Easterns Super League, on Saturday, beating Edenvale 4-2 at Hattingh Park.

The Primrose-based club dominated the match and it came as no surprise that they emerged victorious.

The two sides started the match with Luso at second on the log, just one point ahead of third placed Union FC and Benoni Northerns.

They were favourites to win the match, given that Edenvale started 11th on the log.

Luso had the match pretty much won by halftime, when they led 3-1.

Edenvale did not look like a side that could trouble the local side.

The second half saw the visitors attempt a mini fight-back, as they pulled a goal back to give some of the Luso faithful nervous moments.

The players on the field looked calm, though, and it came as no surprise when they scored the fourth goal.

This weekend Luso will face a tough test against top-of-the-log Highlands Park, who are leading by 14 points.

It is difficult to see how any of the teams in the league can catch them.

Luso will be looking to hold onto second place for the rest of the season.

After facing Highlands, Luso will host Union on September 7 and will then be at home to Corinthians a week later.

The last match of the league campaign will see Luso making the short trip to Edenvale.
