Thrills and spills at local tournament
Third annual Elsburg Jomo Cosmos FC tournament.
The third annual Elsburg Jomo Cosmos Football Club Tournament took place at the Elspark Sports Grounds, on October 12 and 13.
Teams from u-7 to u-17 from all over came in numbers to showcase their talent, playing top notch football and giving the spectators nail-biting games to watch.
Germiston City FC, Elsburg Jomo Cosmos FC, Zamalek FC and Alex Development were some of the teams who participated.
“The aim of the tournament was to promote positive behaviour through football and also to expose players to teams they don’t necessarily play against, while creating a day of fun for all involved,” said Moonira Ramathula, chairman and communications officer of Elsburg Jomo Cosmos FC.
Players came in full force in every match determined to win.
There was a minor glitch at the tournament, as three teams were disqualified for age cheating.
“Elsburg Jomo Cosmos FC is very serious about development and encouraging proper channels of development,” Ramathula added.
The disqualification didn’t stop the fun, because the rest of the teams carried on with the chase.
The u-7 Germiston FC team was one of the outstanding sides at the tournament, as they not only played extremely well but also had recently won the u-7 Milan League.
They won all their games played in the league and lost no match at the tournament.
With their outstanding performance at the tournament, one could see just how they managed to sail through the league.

- u-13 winners: Brazilian Soccer Schools, runners up: Real Midrand
- u-15 winners: Alex Development, runners up: Germiston City FC
- u-17 winners: Agape International, runners up: Leondale United
