The Fearless Kickboxing Fitness gym were represented by two fighters, Bernardo “The Black Panther” Mikixi and Igeu Kabesa, at the 25th edition of the Extreme Fighting Championships (EFC), on November 7, at the Grandwest Grand Arena, in Cape Town.
This was exciting for the Primrose-based gym, because it was their first appearance in the EFC and they were blown away by the excellent performances of both fighters.
Mikixi is a heavyweight fighter who took on Brendon Groenewald at EFC25, and won the three-round bout.
“The fight was easy for me because I trained very hard and I can confidently say that I am ready to fight anyone, anytime and anywhere,” said Mikixi.
The multiple South African wrestling champion, “Smiley” Kabesa, also made his EFC debut and was awarded Fight of the Night.
“I have been wrestling for 11 years now; this was my first professional fight and I consider it one of my toughest fights, it was very tense but I was able to handle it,” said Kabesa.
Among other accolades, Kabesa holds the Amateur Fight League (AFL) title, Cape Town Fight League (CFL) and is a 10 times Wrestling Nationals Champion.
“We are proud of our fighters; they worked hard and put on good fights,” said one of the coaches, Shane Labuschagne.
The gym has recently partnered with Chivalry Blood Sport, and serves as a training camp for all Chivalry Blood Sports’ fighters.
In other news, Francois Kabulu, Alain Ilunga and other professional fighters are scheduled to start training at the gym.
Fearless Kickboxing Fitness also welcomes anyone interested in joining.
There is training every Monday to Friday, from 5pm to 8pm, and on Saturday mornings, from 8am to 10am, at the Primrose Sports Complex.
All are welcome.
