Tennis tournament set to get underway

Calling all Germiston’s senior tennis enthusiasts to clean their training shoes, dust off their racquets and start training for the upcoming Gauteng East Seniors Tournament.

The Gauteng East Tennis Association, in association with Tennis South Africa, will launch the new year by hosting the tournament over the last two weekends of January.

Held at three venues,  Benoni Tennis Centre, Parkrand Tennis Complex and Sunward Park Tennis Club, the event will see over 220 players vying for top spot.

Age groups covered range from 30-plus to 70-plus, in both the male and female draws.

The tournament is one of the largest on the Tennis SA calendar.

Newly appointed chairman for Gauteng East Seniors, Owen O’Neill, is looking forward to developing the game and tournament into the largest provincial tournament in the country, and is hoping to attract the top players from the area to represent their province in the inter-provincial tournaments, held annually nationwide.
