Elsburg and Parys’s friendly rivalry

Elsburg Rugby Club's annual event coming up.

Elsburg Rugby Club, in its 62nd year, will host Parys Rugby Club, on February 15.

There is a rich tradition between these two clubs and it has become an annual event before the league starts.

“The new committee has decided that a floating trophy must be introduced for this day and we trust that the trophy will remain at the Elsburg Club, as the players are preparing for great rugby,” said the secretary of the Elsburg club, Lesley-Ann Jackson.

The chairman, Jacques van Tonder, and vice-chairman Skillie van Wyk have joined forces with a former chairman from the early 2000s, Manie du Preez, to plan and execute this big event.

On the day there will be music, food, a variety of refreshments and the new supporters’ shirts will be on display for orders.

The supporters’ shirts will be available for men and children, and the women’s shirts will have a special cut to fit perfectly.

The committee wants to reiterate that their vision is to lead the club to another league victory, with the experienced coaches on board.

The club would also like to invite all their old players, coaches and committee members to be part of the day.
