Luso head-to-head with Alberton

Thrills and spills at a weekend soccer match.

The Super League Cup had Luso Africa FC and Alberton FC battling it out on the field at the Luso Africa Sports Club, Hattingh Park, on Saturday.

The spectators showed their tremendous support and passion for the game as they kept cheering players, despite the cold and windy weather.

Consistency from both first teams was the one element that stood out throughout the game.

Luso Africa was more focused on straight-up attack, while Alberton worked hard at keeping the balance with tactical attacks and a strong defence line.

The first half was mainly a warm-up analysis, as both teams took time to study each other’s kind of play with a few close shots at goal.

This half was concluded by a nil-to-nil scoreboard and the realisation that neither was going to glide through easily in this fixture.

Luso’s continuous attack was well rewarded with a fine goal roughly five minutes into the second half, which strengthened Alberton’s defence.

The first goal didn’t rattle Alberton much, as they didn’t change much on the play but rather increased their shots at goal.

Luso’s victory was short-lived as Alberton evened the score.

Fair-play gave way for some time until Alberton bagged a second goal minutes before the end of the game.

There is with no doubt that both teams are skilled, as each goal, from both teams, was well fought and sweated for.
