Provincial colours for local bodybuilders

Bodybuilders head for SA Championships.

The Central Gauteng Bodybuilding and Fitness Provincial Championships were held at the Klopper Park Recreation Centre, on August 16.

Unique Physique Gym had some of its athletes taking part and showcasing their physique.

Logan Wessels, Marius Wessels, Anzelle Koekemoer, Werner Cloete, Thembani Masoka Zulu and Lucky Tankiso were the local gym’s representatives at the championships.

Marius, Logan, Tankiso and Koekemoer received their provincial colours and were chosen for the Central Gauteng team who will represent the province at the South African Championships, in Cape Town, from September 10 to 13.

“Proud doesn’t even come close to describing what we feel for these athletes, they did really well,” said Marius.

“As the gym is committed to uplifting the community and helping the less fortunate, we are sponsoring Lucky Tankiso with his plane ticket and accommodation in Cape Town.”

Marius said Tankiso has shown true character and, under very difficult conditions, managed to prevail and win the provincial championship.

“We wish all our athletes all the best for the SA champs, they all show improvement and produce impressive results during competitions, which is a true reflection of their hard work and commitment in training,” he added.

The athletes’ results at the provincial championships are:

  • Lucky Tankiso: first place in the senior men’s u-70kg and received provincial colours.
  • Anzelle Koekemoer: first place in the women’s fitness division and received provincial colours.
  • Werner Cloete: third position in the over 90kg division.
  • Thembani Masoka Zulu: third place in the junior u-18 years section.
  • Logan Wessels: first place in the junior u-16 years division and received provincial colours.
  • Marius Wessels: second place in the masters division and received provincial colours.
