Local athletes honour Mulaudzi

Youngsters bring home eight medals.

Germiston’s six local sub-youth athletes took part in the Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA)’s Sub-Youth Track and Field Championships, at HoĆ«rskool Noordheuwel, in Krugersdorp, on November 1.

The championships served as a commemoration of athletics’ fallen legend, Mbulaeni Mulaudzi.

These athletes, registered under the New Balance Kempies club, participated in long jump, shot-put, discus, hurdles and sprinting events.

The youngsters managed to collect eight medals: four gold, three silver and one bronze.

The local athletes had to fight hard during the day’s events and showed guts as they had to compete in older age groups.

The youngsters are looking forward to being selected to take part in the Inter-Provincial Sub-youth Championships, in Vereeniging, on November 22.
