Cycle team heads to Western Cape
Local cycling club takes on the Century challenge.
The Coronation Double Century Cycle Challenge is set to take place in Swellendam, Western Cape, on November 22.
The annual race attracts teams from across the country to tackle the challenging 202km route, and this year a team primarily based in the Germiston and Bedfordview/Edenvale areas will join the other 200-odd teams for a sure test of skill and endurance.
Team Jeppe Quondam is made up of a group of 12 cyclists, all of whom are triathletes who have made their way to Cape Town for the past three or four years, to tackle the event which is “worth the travelling” according to the team’s captain, Alan Carrington, from Germiston.
The team have been hard at their training, with the emphasis on getting all 12 riders over the finish line as quickly as possible on race day.
The team also undertook a major training ride from Bedfordview to Sun City, recently.
