The Dinwiddie based Nippon Dojo Shotokan Karate Club recently took part in the Traditional Karate Tournament.
The tournament was hosted by the Lenasia South Shotokan Karate Academy – International Shotokan Karate Federation and was held in Lenasia South.
The five participants from the club showed off their skills and walked away with four medals, a trophy and a merit certificate.
The club members placed as follows:
- Henry Berry (second Dan black belt) won a bronze medal for kata and a bronze medal for kumite (fighting).
- Annemarie Terblanche (second Dan black belt) won a merit trophy for kata and kumite.
- Nadia Calore (senior purple belt) won a gold medal for kata.
- Tyron Harmse (junior brown belt) won a merit certificate for kata and kumite.
- Connor Trollip (orange belt) won a silver medal for kata and a silver medal for kumite.
