Mavington Football Club’s founder and head coach, Sandile Moloane, has great plans for his club.
“The team has been in existence for five years now, and, among other things, we have participated in the Katlehong Local Football League Association (KALFA) where we were runners up,” he said.
“We have made it to the finals for 80 per cent of the tournaments that we take part in, which shows just how talented the boys are and I wish to see them achieving their dreams and moving to greater heights.
Moloane said the club only has two teams.
“We have two divisions, u-19 and u-23, and the u-23 team is also known as the first and senior team,” he said.
“We have a lot of players with so much potential but the only problem is that they are not exposed enough to the right places.
“We have a player that is signed to Yebo Yes, which is Orlando Pirates’ development side, which is a great achievement, with more exposure like this more of our players can find themselves in bigger teams.”
The local head coach also said the club is in need of sponsors.
“We are also in need of sponsorship as we struggle to take part in better leagues and tournaments due to a lack of funds,” he said.
“We are also short of training equipment, so if anybody is willing to donate, we would greatly appreciated it.
“We love the game of football and we won’t let the challenges discourage and distract us from playing, we carry on with our practise and go at it in full force.
“More players are welcome to join the club, we practise from Monday to Thursday at the Ncala Grounds, in Katlehong.
“We have two training sessions which take place from 7am to 9am and 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
“I train and groom these youngsters with the help of Sipho Sithole, who is the coach of the first team while I take care of the development side.”
