Children learn to love rugby

Laerskool Die President was thrilled with the success of their rugby tournament, that saw nine schools field teams from u-6 to u-8.

Rugby season is in full swing, with clubs and schools preparing and practising.

With this in mind, Laerskool Die President recently hosted a school rugby tournament at Hoƫrskool Goudrif.

The tournament saw approximately 760 players from nine local primary schools competing.

Schools included Laerskool Orion, Laerskool Delville, Laerskool Oosterkruin, Laerskool General Alberts, Laerskool President Steyn, Laerskool Randhart, Laerskool MW De Wet and Laerskool Leewenhof.

Seventy-seven matches were played, with the schools fielding u-6 to u-8 teams.

The event was enjoyed by young and old and included a special appearance by Mufasa, the Xerox Golden Lions Mascot.

Ricoh, Ruaan Nel, Virtual Group, Albany, PFK (the Laerskool Die President fund-raising committee) and ERMS medics were thanked for their contributions to the day.
