Valentino conquers Dream
Two teams, Valentino Football Club and Dream Team Football Club, were promoted to the SAFA SAB Regional League at the South African Football Association (SAFA) Ekurhuleni’s Super League play-offs.
The Germiston Sports Club hosted South African Football Association (SAFA) Ekurhuleni’s Super League play-offs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“These are the promotional play-offs where we look to promote teams to the SAFA SAB Regional League,” said the regional executive officer at SAFA Ekurhuleni, Job Mchunu.
“The winners from 13 associations meet in the tournament and compete in round-robin matches.
“Our semi-finals were held on Saturday, and on Sunday we held the final match between Valentino Football Club and Dream Team FC.
“Both teams have been promoted to the regional league due to their performances throughout the tournament.
“They just had to play against each other for formalities and to crown a winner of the tournament.”
The match between the two top teams was a rather interesting one.
It was evident that both teams are skilled, with Valentino heavy on attack, triggering Dream’s robust defence.
It was no surprise when Valentino’s Ndambe Zitha netted their first goal.
Ball possession remained with Valentino throughout the match.
Dream retaliated with a goal just before half-time.
Valentino extended their lead in the second half, with two more goals from Makai Mokoena and Mfanzile Mabuza, respectively.
Dream’s robust defence was no match for Valentino’s attack, which saw the match end in a 3-1 score.
“The boys played very well and made us proud the entire tournament,” said Valentino FC’s assistant coach, Kgomotso Maja.
“We are only looking to take the success over to the new league to which we have been promoted.”
