Explosive night of boxing

It was all out action at the Golden Gloves’ Southpaw Showdown box and dine held at Emperors Palace.

It was a night of hard-hitting action at the Southpaw Showdown.

The explosive box-and-dine evening that featured five action-packed bouts was hosted by Emperors Palace, in association with Golden Gloves, recently.

The bouts saw some of SA’s top boxers giving their all in the ring.

Results on the fight-card:

  •  Nathan Hammond took on Zamelo Dludu in the junior middleweight division. Hammond won the bout in the third round by technical knock out (TKO).
  • Fan favourite Deejay Kriel beat Nyelasani Thagambege by TKO in the fifth round of the Strawweight Gauteng title bout.

  • Seasoned professional Hekkie Budler beat Siyabonga Siyo for the WBA Pan African Junior Flyweight title after a gruelling 12-round fight.

  • Chris van Heerden from SA beat Sacky Shikukutu from Namibia for the WBA Pan African Welterweight title.
  •  Kevin Lerena from SA beat Micki Nielsen of Denmark in their 10-round International Cruiserweight division bout.
