Double victory for Eagles

The Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club celebrated two victories in their two Easterns Cricket League weekend matches.

It was a fantastic weekend for the Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club who have struggled to find their feet in the Easterns Cricket League when they won both their Saturday Second League and Executive League matches.

In their Executive League match they faced the Bakerton Cricket Club at the Elsburg Eagles Main Oval in Dinwiddie.

The home team took to the crease first and knocked up an impressive 273 runs, all out, in their allotted 50 overs.

The match’s top batsmen were Tiaan Smith with 68 runs, Garreth Hann with 58 runs, Stan Thorpe with 40 runs and Eben De Swart with 30 runs.

The club then took to the field and was able to hold their competitors to 137 runs, all out, securing a 136 run victory.

The day’s top bowlers were Garreth Hann with five wickets in 10 overs for just 17 runs and Grant Wilcox with two wickets in four overs for just 15 runs.

In their Saturday Second League match, the club travelled to Alberton to take on the Eden Park Cricket Club.

The Eagles once again batted first and set a target of 214 runs for nine wickets in their allotted 35 overs.

The day’s top batsmen were Dylan Hicks with 63 runs and Cameron Brown with 58 runs.

The team then came in to bowl.

Eden Park could only manage to score 137 runs before they were all out, giving the Eagles a 77 run victory.

The match’s top bowlers were Brandon du Plooy with two wickets in four overs for just 10 runs, Bully Millar with two wickets in two overs for just nine runs and Dylan Hicks with two wickets in two overs for just 13 runs.

The teams were thrilled with this weekend’s outcome.

The club will next face the Actonville Spurs Cricket Club in the Promotion League and the Bareton Ys Cricket Club in the Executive League on Sunday.
