Closely fought battle between Team World and Team Africa

Team World won the third NBA Africa Game in front of a sold out audience in Pretoria.

The recent National Basketball Association (NBA) Africa Game 2018 was star-studded with local celebrities and sports stars sitting on the courtside.

Socialites enjoying the game included the Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi, his teammate, Tendai Mtawarira and local actresses – Pearl Thusi, Boity Thulo and Hlubi Mboya.

The game took place at the Sun Arena at Time Square in Pretoria.

Leading up to the game, Bismack Biyombo from Team Africa, expressed his excitement about the match and mentioned that the team was well prepared and that they were expecting a good game.

He also expressed his gratitude at being part of the team that represented Africa.

“We got to get it together for our brothers and sisters, but it’s not about what it is going to take – it is about doing it. We just have to do it,” he said.

A crowd favourite, Joel Embiid, led Team Africa with 24 points and seven rebounds.

Luol Deng added 14 points and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot pitched in 16.

Danilo Gallinari, who was named the 2018 Manute Bol MVP of the game, scored 23 points to lead Team World to victory.

Garrett Temple, who plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, represented Team World and said it was a privilege to have been selected to play in the Africa game.

“Although it is a friendly game, we are still competitive players and whenever we step on the court, we all play to win,” said Temple.

The game ended 96-92 in favour of Team World.
