Germiston end season on top

Germiston City Cricket Club topped the 2018/2019 Easterns Cricket League season log in both the Saturday Fifth League and Sunday President’s League.

Germiston City Cricket Club ended their 2018/2019 Easterns Cricket League season on a positive note, topping two of the three leagues the club competed in.

“The season began with Germiston being entered into four divisions, but due to a lack of player availability we had to withdraw from the Saturday First League,” explained David Ungerer, club chairperson.

This, however, did not deter the club and they finished the season top of the log in both the Saturday Fifth League and Sunday President’s League and came fourth in the Sunday Promotion League.

“The wins are great news for the club,” said Ungerer.

“This will most likely mean the teams will move up in the league structures.

“This would mean the teams would move from the Saturday Fifth League to the Saturday Fourth League and from the Sunday President’s League to the Sunday Chairman’s League.”
