Let’s go sailing

Locals learn about sailing.

Sailing South Africa Sailing Training Centre, situated at Victoria Lake Club, hosted an open day on Sunday to introduce locals to the sport of sailing.

Coach Shellee Nel from the centre said this was the perfect season for those who had an interest in sailing to take advantage of the great training facilities available at the club.

The Learn to Sail programme offers sailing lessons at Germiston Lake and is suitable for both young and old.

A variety of sailboats are available at the centre, which offers lessons for beginners and advanced sailors.

“We encourage people who love technical sports to join the programme,” said Nel.

“You do not need to know how to swim to join. However, you will undergo a water awareness programme once you have joined and subsequently learn how to swim.”
