Man arrested for malicious damage to property

Primrose police apprehended a man on a charge of malicious damage to property.

Primrose police arrested a 34-year-old man last Sunday on a charge of malicious damage to property.

The incident allegedly took place in the Marathon informal settlement and was reported to police by the victim of the alleged attack.

“The victim alleged she was walking when she was stopped by the suspect, her ex-boyfriend, who demanded to know who Nhlanhla was,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“He then allegedly grabbed her cellphone and hit it against a nearby gate, breaking it, and once again asked who Nhlanhla was.

“The victim further alleged the accused choked her when she wouldn’t answer.”

Using the description given by the victim police were able to trace and arrest the man.

He was held at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.

“We are appealing to our community to stay away from their ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends when the relationship has ended,” said Maome.
