Burning Stars invite new netball players on their team

“We are starting as the junior mixed team because we have a boy player who is also part of the team.”

The Burning Stars netball team is looking for new players to boost their squad.

The team is an expansion of the boys’ soccer team.

Founder Philani Ncube said having a women’s soccer squad and a netball team has always been on the cards.

“We have started training opposite the Total garage on Stanley Road,” said Ncube.

“We are starting as the junior mixed team because we have a boy player who is also part of the team. We have also started mobilising resources for them,” said Ncube.

Charity Marapyana and Suprise Serumulo call on new players to join the Burning Stars netball team.

Suprise Serumulo said he joined his school team in 2022 and began playing.

“We went all the way to the finals and prevailed. I have the medal at home. I wish to pursue medicine after I graduate from matric,” said Serumulo.

Hawk Academy Grade Nine leaner Charity Marapyana said she began playing last year and hasn’t stopped since.
“I love the sport, and I believe I could turn it into a career in the future,” she said.

Charity Marapyana and Suprise Serumulo form part of the Burning Stars netball team.
