Netball talent nurtured in Germiston

PEP mini netball empowers and upskills local coaches through PEP mini netball coaching sessions.

PEP recently conducted its third PEP mini-netball coaching sessions at Collin Mann Primary School in Germiston, focusing on empowering and upskilling local netball coaches.

This initiative is designed to enhance coaching techniques, deepen knowledge of the game, develop leadership skills, and elevate the overall standard of netball coaching at the PEP mini-netball level.

The sessions were led by Dr Elsje Jordaan, a sports scientist from Sportisimo, Minette Dempsey, and Dumisani Chauke, former Spar Proteas assistant coach and PEP mini Netball ambassador.

This bespoke programme aims to teach foundational netball skills to young players and will equip hundreds of coaches across six provinces; Gauteng, Western Cape, Free State, Limpopo, Northern Cape, and North West.
Limpopo hosted the first session.

“The PEP mini netball programme is growing, and we are delighted to embark on this journey with two highly respected figures in the netball community,” said Beyers van der Merwe, chief marketing officer at PEP.

“Their passion for the game and commitment to empowering young players and coaches aligns perfectly with our principles of providing accessibility and positive influence in local communities.”

Dumisani Chauke, head of sports at Tshwane University of Technology, emphasised the programme’s significance.

PEP mini-netball coaching sessions aim to empower both netball players and coaches in six provinces across the country.

“The programme is very close to my heart. Empowering coaches and nurturing talent is crucial. I am thrilled to be part of this journey and look forward to inspiring others to aim high and achieve their full potential.”

Jordaan, current Golden Fireballs Coach, added, “This investment in both player and coach development is commendable.

“Our goal is to empower coaches with the tools and confidence they need to make a lasting impact on their players.
