Semi-finals of Ekurhuleni Basketball Association come to an end
“We play once every fortnight throughout the year. In between the leagues, we have five events.”
The Ekurhuleni Basketball Association (EBA) held its league semi-finals on October 19 at the Germiston Stadium, featuring matches across various age groups, including senior men and boys and girls in the U14, U16, and U18 categories.
EBA vice chairperson Mmeli Magubane expressed gratitude for the facilities provided by local venues.

“Willmore High School, the Germiston Stadium Courts, and the Huntersfield Stadium in Katlehong have always offered us excellent facilities. A team can play three games a day, leading to over 30 games in total,” he said.

The finals are on November 21, just a week before the EBA Women’s Tournament scheduled for November 29.
“We will host our finals at the Brakpan Indoor Sports Centre,” Magubane added.
EBA has been a cornerstone of basketball in the region for over 20 years, having formalised its structure 12 years ago.

“We started competing in conferences, progressed to centralised play, and now adopt a tournament style,” explained Magubane.

The association hosts games every fortnight throughout the year and five major events, including its Women’s Invitational Tournament and the Youth Day Tournament.
“We also run a school tournament to cultivate talent from a young age,” Magubane said, underscoring the EBA’s commitment to developing basketball in the community.
