Elsburg MMA fighter beats opponent in the start of season
"It was a fight I needed to showcase my toughness and strength."

Elsburg native Piet ‘Thunder’ Coxen had a strong start to the year after winning his Titan Bareknuckle bout in the third round.
The MMA fighter and coach dropped his opponent twice in the second and third rounds, as well as once in the first.
Alberton hosted the match, and it was a great success.

He claimed that he needed to demonstrate his stamina, skill, and strength in the ring.
“I won both of my first matches. My opponent in this match put up a fight. He would always get back up when I dropped him, and he also managed to catch me off guard.
“Depending on my booking, I hope to play my next match in March or April,” Coxen said.
His gym, Thunder MMA, received an invitation to Durban in December to take part in a few amateur mixed martial arts bouts.
Kayden Wasson, who won in the opening round of his debut MMA bout, made the team selection.
In his debut MMA bout as well, Luvuyo Mnyenyevu prevailed in the opening round of his match while Clint Louw lost via split decision.

“Both the Thunder MMA gym and the fighters’ self-confidence are increasing,” said Coxen.
“This year is going to be our year. The Coxen family celebrated our daughter Jaruska Coxen (3), who had her first day of primary school at Laerskool Delville where she started her big school career at RRR. The whole day I missed her. I couldn’t wait to go pick her up from school,” said Coxen.
