Young Germiston runner shines at CGA Cross Country Championships

"We are seeing his talent grow from where he started last year," said Raadt.

The Central Gauteng (CGA) Provincial Cross Country Championships proved to be a thrilling event on August 16 at the Germiston Sports Club.

Lenhle Raadt (8 years old) accomplished an outstanding performance, finishing second on the podium in the boys U/8 1km cross country championships event.

Speaking with his mother, Puleng Raadt, she expressed her pride at her son’s performance.

“We are seeing his talent grow from where he started last year,” said Raadt.

“In both club and school events, he is doing well. On August 15, he competed in school competitions and made it to the podium.

“He started training and competing last year at school at General Alberts Primary School, inspired by his brother, who also competes,” Puleng said.

“He began as a sprinter, before moving on to cross country. In school sports, he finished first for two weeks in 1km cross country races, qualifying him to compete in the District Championships on August 22.

“After finishing second in the CGA Championships, he qualified for the nationals, which would be held in Mpumalanga soon.”
