Referee hails Vryburger vs Maragon Noordvaal Cup final as one of the best
Neutral referee Shawn Bruno praised both teams for discipline and skill in the Noordvaal Cup final on 23 August, where Vryburger beat Maragon Mooikloof 28-12.
Shawn Bruno, the referee for the Noordvaal Cup final between Hoërskool Vryburger High School and Maragon Mooikloof, shared his thoughts on the match.
He described it as one of the best matches he has officiated, praising both teams for their discipline and focus.
Bruno noted that the rough field conditions and strong wind made the game challenging, but the teams displayed a high level of rugby.

He commended the players for playing for their school and badge, saying, “Losing and winning is part of the game, so congratulations to both teams for achieving that.”
Bruno officiated the match in which Hoërskool Vryburger High School defeated Maragon Mooikloof 28-12 to secure the cup on August 23.
“The teams being from different federations necessitated a neutral referee, which is why I was called in to officiate,” he added.

“The emergence of promising talent from the school scene bodes well for the future of South African rugby, particularly the Springboks.
