It’s time to dance

Don't miss local dancers in action this weekend.

Dancers from all over South Africa will be showcasing their skills this weekend, when the 2013 Supreme Dancer of The Year Competition takes place.

It will be held in the Carnival City Big Top Arena on September 20 and 21.

This prestigious competition, hosted by Lambton-based Diana Moore Dance World, has been running for 28 consecutive years, and attracts the biggest names in the dancing world in South Africa.

Various styles of dance will be showcased, from Latin American and ballroom, to freestyle, slowdance, hip hop and showdance.

This spectacular event is not to be missed, and is a highlight of every dancer’s calendar.

The current South African champions of every genre offered at the competition will be competing for the Dancer of the Year title.

Not only is this a fun-filled weekend for the dancers, but has high entertainment value for spectators, young and old.

The Latin American and ballroom sections take place on Friday evening from 6pm and the freestyle, hip hop, showdance and other sections will take place from 9am till late on Saturday.

The proudly South African, current Blackpool Open British World Exhibition Champions, Gerhard van Rooyen and Amor Kruger will be performing on both days.

The freestyle dancers, who did the entertainment at the finals of the latest Strictly Come Dancing South Africa competition, and are the top SA and World Freestyle champions, will all be competing for top honours at Supreme Dancer of the Year on September 21.

This promises to be an event not to be missed.
