Parents should take care

Parents should make sure they check on their children’s friends and the company they keep on a regular basis to ensure themselves that their young ones do not fall prey to the wrong company that could expose them to drugs and other forms of illicit substances, including alcohol.

It is very easy these days to lure teenagers to the wrong side of life by promising and offering everything they wish for.

We’ve seen how children from affluent homes are being drawn into drug addiction with devastating consequences.

The trial of the son of the late SABC former board member Hope Zinde, who was allegedly killed by her drug-crazed teenage son, should be used as an example of how drugs are destroying our sons and daughters in their early teens.

I want to urge all responsible parents to take charge of their children’s lives by making sure that they know everything about the friends their children keep.

Please parents don’t take things for granted and pretend you know everything about your child, you may be surprised by what they do behind your back with their friends.

Don’t wait until it is too late, be your child’s best friend.
