Two companies, Kganyo Creations and Dazzle Creations, held an Ekasi Wedding Expo on Saturday, October 8.

The first is owned by Zama Ngubeni, based in Shongweni Katlehong, and the second is owned by Mpho Mongane.

According to Ngubeni, one of the organisers, the purpose of the expo was to bring under one roof all market-related service providers to showcase their talent and bring the service closer to the people in support of black-owned businesses.

“We had different service providers: florists, dressmakers, make-up artists, photographers, wine sellers, musicians, decor/ event companies and jewellery makers.

“I am so glad to see so many black upcoming business owners under one roof. Not to mention the support, I did not expect so much support from the community of Katlehong and the surroundings,” said Ngubeni.

The event took place at Mlando restaurant in Katlehong. It was attended by a large number of people who marvelled at the talent on show.

Mongane, the other organiser, said, “The day was a success compared to the last time. This was the second edition of the expo since we held the first one on May 17. I am so happy that the wedding expo is growing.”

According to one of the customers who was there to support small and upcoming businesses, Sipho Mdawe, the event was well organised. “I think it was perfect, but there is always room for improvement.

“From jewellery and dressmakers to make-up artists and all the companies that were there to exhibit their business, from my personal point of view, they outdid themselves.

“If they use a different marketing strategy next time they will have a larger number of people attend than this time. Anyway, well done to the women for organising such a beautiful event,” said Mdawe.
