Sassa warns beneficiaries to check status

The agency is encouraging Social Relief of Distress grant beneficiaries to check their application status and banking details ahead of the May payment cycle to avoid delays.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has urged beneficiaries of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant to check their application status ahead of the May payment cycle.

The agency said payments for the R370 SRD grant are expected to be processed in batches between May 24 and 30.

Beneficiaries are encouraged to verify their application status through Sassa’s official platforms, including the agency’s website, WhatsApp service, mobile USSD codes and toll-free call centre.

Officials have also advised recipients to regularly confirm that their banking and personal details are correct to help prevent delays or processing issues during the payment period.

Sassa said keeping information updated is important to ensure beneficiaries receive their grants without unnecessary disruptions.
