Emergency electricity shutdown to affect entire Heidelberg town

Residents and businesses across Heidelberg town will be without electricity for several hours as Lesedi Local Municipality carries out emergency repairs at the Retief Substation. The municipality has urged residents to treat all electrical points as live during the outage period.

Residents and businesses across Heidelberg town are expected to experience an eight-hour electricity outage today (July 16) as Lesedi Local Municipality undertakes emergency repairs at the Retief Substation.

In a public notice issued on July 15, the municipality announced that electricity supply would be interrupted from 08:00 to 16:00 to allow its central power maintenance team to carry out essential repair work.

The planned outage will affect the entire Heidelberg town area. Lesedi Local Municipality urged residents and business owners to treat all electrical installations as live throughout the outage, as power may be restored without prior notice.
