An illegal shack found next to the N3

An occupant of an informal dwelling (shack) was escorted to the Heidelberg Police station on January 6.
According to Heidelberg SAPS Petrus Shabalala (33) constructed the illegal shack two years ago ten metres from the N3 and lived in the dwelling since. The structure was found by an SAPS Heidelberg patrolling unit on a pass-by when they noticed a black structure hidden behind a tree. On closer inspection the officers realised it was an illegal dwelling.
The police said the shack was covered in layers of plastic and blankets no bigger than a one man tent. Inside the shack police found numerous literature items, cooking supplies and plastic containers filled with personal notes.
His family was contacted who then collected him from the police station.
