Former members of Nigel Community Police Forum formed a private neighbourhood watch company.
Nigel Community on Patrol (NCOP) was formed with the main objective of serving the community.
According to Gordon Schreider (NCOP’s spokesperson) they are working in conjunction with SAPS Nigel and armed response organisations.
“It will require commitment from individuals, and a willingness to participate in keeping the streets free of criminals. Most people would agree that prevention is better than cure. A small price to pay, than to see loved ones suffering the often long term effects of being a victim of crime”, Gordon stated.
NCOP installed their radio receiver with the help of Nigel Fire Brigade on January 20.
“This has allowed us to finally purchase and install our own radio network. Funding for the project has been made possible by residents that donated money”, Gordon concluded.
