NCOP members reach out to the community

Nigel Community on Patrol (NCOP) had their first outreach event on March 7 when they donated gifts to a children’s home in Bank Street.
Julia’s Children’s Home has been nurturing orphaned children between the ages of 5 and 17 for over 15 years.
Julia de Kock (owner) said the house is a home to nine children who attend schools in the area and are then encouraged to further their education once they complete matric.
She said it was a priviledge to have NCOP donate gifts to the children.
“It was not only the gifts that made the outreach special, but the quality time the NCOP members spent with the children”, she said.
The outreaches is a way for the organisation to serve the community and give back.
Kim Grung (NCOP) said most of the funds received for their outreaches are from their members and in this case individual members supplied separate gifts for the children.
“We gave the children gifts depending on their ages. It consisted of toys, toiletries and teddy bears’, she said.
The organisation also supplied the children with cold drinks and cupcakes.
NCOP is a neighbourhood watch company whose main objective is to keep the community safe through patrolling the various sectors.
