Secondhand Business Forum members meet to discuss Bill

NIGEL – A meeting scheduled by the Nigel Secondhand Business Forum on May 27, was met with enthusiasm by traders in the secondhand business.
The purpose of the meeting is to explain the secondhand goods bill, which was introduced in parliament earlier this year, to local business owners and stakeholders.
Chairperson of Nigel Secondhand Business Forum, Goolam Patel strongly advised secondhand business owners to apply for a legal business trading licence from SAPS Nigel, which will be valid for a period of five years.
Businesses that fall under the secondhand goods act are secondhand motor vehicle dealers; Pawnshops; Scrapyards; Panel Beaters;Tyre shops; Jewellery shops; cellphone shops and any business that deals in the sale and purchase of secondhand goods.
Mr Patel warned that strict and regular inspections will be executed by SAPS members and Metro Police officers to ensure that dealers’ stock books and records of goods purchased and sold, correspond.
The next meeting will take place on July 15 at 17:30 at the lecture hall of SAPS Nigel. All business owners are welcome to attend.
