33 Cars destroyed in raging fire at Blue Valley

NIGEL - A raging inferno on a plot at Blue Valley gutted a total of 33 used vehicles on September 29.

The fleet of cars were parked on privately owned property and were destined for the used car market. The owner repairs and sells them for a living.
It is not known how the fire was ignited, but fanned by the wind and worsened by dry grass, it quickly spread through the property to the yard where fuel in the vehicles sparked a massive blaze. Nigel, Duduza and Brakpan Emergency Services responded to the call around midday and it took 15 fire fighters nearly two hours to extinguish the blaze.

The damage amounts to hundreds of thousands of rands, but fire fighters were able to salvage 40 cars from the blaze. No injuries were reported and the exact cause of the fire is being investigated.
