Matric learner stabbed several times, suffers memory loss
DUDUZA - A 19 year old matric learner was brutally attacked and stabbed three times in the back after attending a house party on October 17.
Bongani Ntombela from Esibonelwesihle Secondary School left the house late Saturday afternoon, telling his mother Emma he was going to a party that was arranged amongst school friends.
According to Emma, he did not return home and she only learned about his assault the following day when she was called to Pholosong Hospital in Tsakane. Upon her arrival, she was greeted by her badly battered son who recalled nothing of what happened, as he suffers from temporary memory loss. It is also not clear why or where exactly Bongani was attacked.
He was due to start his matric exams soon, but his mother expressed her concerns over his injuries saying he will not be able to. Enlisting the help of the hospital doctor, Emma has approached the Gauteng Department of Education through the school to request a postponement.
According to police spokesperson W/O Yakub Rasool, the assault was never reported and therefore it cannot be investigated yet.
