Man dies in house fire
NIGEL - Despite all her efforts to save Mohammed Russool from the raging flames of a house fire on October 19, a domestic worker living next door could not succeed and the community is left shocked by the death of the 33 year old artist.
Goolam Patel (chairman of Mackenzieville Neighbourhood Watch) was alerted by his guards
just before midnight on Sunday and said they were among the first to arrive at the scene. They immediately called Nigel Fire Brigade, who arrived 25 minutes later after not being able to locate the address.
Fire fighters initiated forced entry and after extinguishing the blaze, they found Mohammed’s body in the bathroom. Although he sustained some injuries from the flames, it was discovered that he died of smoke inhalation. He was declared dead by EMM paramedics on the scene. The cause of the fire is not known and no surrounding homes were damaged.

After extinguishing a house fire in Punjab Drive, Nigel emergency services workers found the body of Mohammed Russool in the bathroom where he succumbed from smoke inhalation.
